Mad Mallets by UM Project for the SHOP at Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt Design Museum
Updated: Dec 5, 2019

The work of the UM Projects studio transcends those from industry and craftsmanship with qualities in processes and production. Traditional techniques and archetypes are transformed with a special interest in the combination of materials and their connections. This ideology has been applied to their new collection called Mad Mallets.
The pieces are designed and produced especially for the Cooper Hewitt store, in the Smithsonian design museum, which has invited 25 American designers, to create limited edition items with influence on their exhibitions, in this case tools, which are made from a mix of materials such as brass, copper, aluminum, powder and lacquer.
