Floe Insel by Patricia Urquiola for Cassina
Updated: Jan 6, 2020
Floe Insel is like a soft floating island, evoking a desire to discover each side by wandering around it, thanks to its strong visual movement. Its shape floats in the setting: from the center of the room it can move and meet new elements, creating archipelagos of relaxation.
The soft, multi-sided structure comprises different geometric shapes positioned at various angles evoking the idea of irregular masses of ice. The unique shape of the sofa is emphasized by the detailed diagonal stitching that follows and highlights its many sides, bringing movement to its form. The sofa’s stitching is skillful, running diagonally to strongly emphasize the union of the non-orthogonal shapes of each element.
