Faceted Shapes by Turi Heisselberg Pedersen
Updated: Jan 7, 2020
In the interplay between culture and nature, this project is inspired by geological structures and crystal formations, but also by architecture, the edged rendering of a computer drawing or folded paper shapes. Most of the faceted shapes seems to have a grain of coincidence or unplanned development, reminding you of crystal formations growing in irregular clusters. The pieces are hand-modeled stoneware glazed with slip-glaze, which gives the works a stone-like, dry surface with a rich texture. Some of the works have expressive surfaces, with relief or fluted structures but most of them are simply just trying to express the inherent character and textual freshness of the clay.
