Exercise by Studio Robert Stadler
Updated: Jan 26
The reason why this series is called Exercise is that for once Robert Stadler approached it from the angle of a material rather than starting with a concept. Olimpo Striato is an African marble with almost perfectly regular veins: there‘s a real ambiguity between the natural and the artificial, because the veins seem to have been painted by a robotic arm, making them perfectly parallel. Because the marble has been made as thin as possible, the light areas become translucent.
the result of this exercise is these beautiful and unique table pieces each having its own characteristics.
