Oru Series by Aljoud Lootah

Updated: Jan 27, 2020

The Oru Series is a collection of geometric furniture and decorative objects which take inspiration from origami forms. The name “Oru” originates from the Japanese words “To Fold”, and the idea behind the designs is to show that folding a flat, 2-dimensional sheet can create aesthetically appealing functional 3-dimensional forms. The products, with their faceted design looking like complex folds but with sophisticated simplicity, are a modern interpretation of an ancient form of art. This collection consists of a chair and cabinet made from Teak wood and felt fabric and a lamp and mirror made from Teak wood and reflective copper, all produced in limited edition of five pieces only.
