Cine-tisme and Rocky by Charles Kalpakian
Updated: Jan 28, 2020
Charles Kalpakian creates a 3D variation of the classic pattern used by cabinet makers. He plays with our perception of space and volume with an object that reveals and changes according to the observer’s point of view.
His Rocky Series is a credenza featuring an angular and sculptural line of cabinets, shelves and consoles to be placed on the ground while the Cine-tisme collection includes shelves and cabinets to be hung on wall. These collections are the meeting between street art and Op'art, scientific phenomenon of bistability disorder of perception.
